Mathis, Marifian & Richter welcomes Louis B. Laugges as associate attorney

Mathis, Marifian & Richter Ltd. (MM&R), a law firm serving clients throughout southern Illinois and the St. Louis metropolitan area, recently announced that Louis B. Laugges has joined its firm as an associate attorney.
Laugges brings experience across a broad range of civil litigation and transactional matters, including personal injury, employment law, municipal law, business law, insurance defense and nonprofit representation. At MM&R, he will focus his practice on civil litigation and personal injury while supporting clients in a variety of legal matters.
Prior to attending law school, Laugges worked as a paralegal and legal secretary, gaining valuable experience in family law, criminal law and insurance matters. He then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in legal studies from Illinois State University before receiving his juris doctor from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. After earning his degree, he began his legal career with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office in Springfield.
While serving in the Attorney General’s Office, Laugges represented numerous Illinois state agencies in civil litigation before Illinois state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of Illinois and the Illinois Court of Claims. His work included representing the Illinois State Police, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, the Illinois Department of Corrections and Illinois State University in workers’ compensation matters.
Since relocating to the St. Louis region, Laugges has continued to expand his legal practice, representing businesses, municipalities, nonprofit organizations, insurers and individuals in both plaintiff and defense matters. His experience on both sides of personal injury litigation provides him with a well-rounded perspective that benefits his clients.

Laugges is licensed to practice in Missouri and Illinois, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri. Outside of his legal practice, Laugges is an active member of Business Networking International (BNI), where he supports and collaborates with businesses throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area.
