Spectrum recently announced a series of donations totaling $14,000 to seven different St. Louis area organizations through the company’s national philanthropic program, Spectrum Employee Community Grants.
Since its inception in 2019, Spectrum Employee Community Grants has provided more than $355,000 in funding to more than 185 nonprofits across Missouri, where Spectrum employees are volunteering their time and talent.
Spectrum hosted a recognition ceremony and check presentation with each of the nonprofits, the Spectrum employee volunteers and other leaders to commemorate the donations.
The latest St. Louis area Spectrum Employee Community Grant recipients are:
- Highway to Destiny – $5,000 to support individuals enrolled in a vocational training program at St. Louis Community College.
- St. Francis Community Services – $2,500 to empower individuals and families by providing educational opportunities, holistic services and legal aid.
- Metropolitan Community Church – $2,500 to cover the initial costs of making housing available for approximately 10 new residents at the Assisi House.
- The Sharing Shed – $1,000 to expand their delivery service of meals and personal items, removing transportation barriers for deliveries of household items to families in need.
- Gateway Region YMCA – $1,000 to help those in need without reducing educational, social-emotional and workforce development resources.
- The Hindu Temple of St. Louis – $1,000 to provide medical service to the St. Louis community, free of cost, once a month and cultural and social education to children under the age of 16.
- CASA of Jefferson County – $1,000 to recruit and train new volunteers, which allows the program to grow and increase the number of children they can serve.
“Through Spectrum Employee Community Grants, we’re committed to providing support to vital community organizations with whom our local employees are already volunteering their time and talent,” said Aaron Detwiler, area vice president of Field Operations for the Missouri Management Area. “Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work across America.”
Grant recipients deliver critical social services, helping underserved residents meet basic needs, including food, shelter, clothing, job training and neighborhood safety. Each awardee is nominated by one of the company’s employees who has volunteered with the organization for at least one year.
