HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is expanding healthcare access with $116M investment

HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon is expanding access to high-quality health care by investing $116 million in campus and infrastructure projects.

Overview

There are multiple projects happening at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

One is the construction of a new outpatient surgery center and medical office building on the northeast corner of campus and within the hospital itself.

Also happening is an expansion of the Emergency Department, adding inpatient beds on the fifth floor, and relocating some additional services.

Hospital renovations

  • Renovations will use space within the facility more efficiently and expand to meet current and future growth needs
  • Modernizing 35,000 square feet of space and add 19,000 square feet of new clinical space
  • A total investment of $66 million

Clinical expansion

  • Adding 32 new, private inpatient medical/surgical rooms
  • Adding 8 new emergency department treatment rooms to improve access
  • Enhancing emergency department capabilities with a new CT scanner and relocated X-Ray machines
  • Expanding the waiting area
  • Adding security features for staff and patient safety

Infrastructure investments

  • Relocating outpatient registration operations to increase patient access and efficiency of service
  • New cafeteria to be built on the ground level for greater accessibility for all and a more efficient delivery system

New outpatient surgery center, medical office building

  • A total investment of $50 million
  • 70,000 square foot building on the northeast corner of hospital campus, off N. Green Mount Rd.
  • 4 operating rooms and 2 procedure rooms
  • Clinical space for medical specialties and physician offices
