SkillsUSA Illinois announces Bryna Ryan as interim executive director

The board of directors of SkillsUSA Illinois recently announced Bryna Ryan is its new interim executive director.

Ryan joined SkillsUSA Illinois as the director of Workforce Development in August 2024. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Illinois State University and the University of Illinois at Springfield, then served in leadership roles for several nonprofits in central Illinois. Her latest role before joining SkillsUSA Illinois was as CEO of Neighborhood House Association of Peoria.

SkillsUSA Illinois’ board of directors leadership said Ryan’s transition to the interim executive director role gives needed assurance the organization will lead a successful upcoming school year for SkillsUSA Illinois chapters across the state serving 16,000 students.

“We are confident Bryna is the proven, experienced leader who knows our members and how to help them succeed during this transition period. SkillsUSA Illinois is in excellent position to have a great school year ahead, and Bryna’s insights and leadership will make sure we step up to meet the challenge,” said Sean Fitzgerrel, chair of the SkillsUSA Illinois board of directors.

SkillsUSA Illinois’ mission is to help employers statewide address a growing skills gap with its nonprofit partnership of students, instructors, and industry to introduce and encourage young people about employment needs and the skilled workforce required to meet them.

Ryan replaces Eric Hill, who left as executive director on Monday, July 28. The board thanked Hill and wished him well in his future endeavors.
