Gleeson re-elected to fifth, two-year term as Twentieth Judicial Circuit chief judge

Chief Judge Andrew Gleeson

Chief Judge Andrew J. Gleeson has been elected by the majority of his colleagues to a fifth, two-year term as chief judge of the Twentieth Judicial Circuit. He has been chief judge since November 2016. Presently, he is also chairman of the Article V Committee of the Illinois Supreme Court.

In addition to his administrative duties, Gleeson presides over a major civil jury trial docket. As he enters his 22nd year as a judge, Gleeson noted, “It’s been a privilege, as well as a challenge, to be the chief judge in these most unique of times. From the advent of new technology, to the pandemic, the Safe-T Act and now transitioning to a new court wide Case Management System. Challenges have been made easier by the quality and efforts of the judges I work with.”

A colleague, Circuit Judge Heinz Rudolf, added, “I am pleased to announce that Chief Judge Andrew Gleeson has agreed to lead us as Chief for another term. We are fortunate to have such a quality leader in Andy.”
