IDOT announces I-55/70 lane closures Feb. 18 through 20

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces lane restrictions will be encountered at the merge of eastbound Interstate 70 and northbound I-55, in East St. Louis.

Weather permitting and scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, the right two lanes (EB I-70) will be closed at milepost 3 and merged into I-55. The two left lanes (NB I-55) will remain open during these restrictions. Additionally, the entrance ramp from Ninth Street to EB I-70/NB I-55 will be closed to all traffic at Baugh Avenue. All lanes are expected to be open by 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20.

These restrictions are necessary to perform emergency bridge deck repairs on the bridge over the B & O Railroad. District 8 Operations crews will make the needed repairs.
