Boarding House Bistro celebrates location in O’Fallon’s Downtown District

Boarding House Bistro opened Oct.26, 2020, during the thick of the pandemic. It used the commercial kitchen in VFW Post 805 with hopes of opening a storefront.

Employees stayed busy through the holidays serving charcuterie boards to go, retail wine, spirits and gifts. After the holidays, as they waited for COVID restrictions to be lifted, they took their time finishing their storefront Bistro Bar perfecting cocktails and working out details.

They opened their storefront on East State Street for food and beverage service on March 1, 2021.

Owner Chrissy Johnson said the business has been welcomed and supported by customers and the other businesses in the Downtown District.

The Bistro offers charcuterie boards to go, retail wine, beer, spirits and gifts, a deli with a variety of cheeses, cured meats and some local products. They also have in house charcuterie menu, craft cocktails, wine and beer.

They’re an employer of eight. They’ve added onto the back of the building as well as added a scenic  courtyard in the backyard area. There are plans for future growth.

Boarding House Bistro celebrated the new location with a ribbon cutting at 212 East State St. on Oct. 26.
