Moonbird Yoga, located at 330 W. State St. in O’Fallon’s Downtown District, opened its new studio location in February 2020, just 17 days prior to closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Monday, June 21, 15 months after closing the new studio, Moonbird held a long-awaited official ribbon-cutting ceremony coinciding with International Yoga Day.
Moonbird Yoga is now open for in-studio classes, with more than 25 classes being offered in O’Fallon as well as its satellite studios in Edwardsville and Smithton. Co-owners Therese Blomberg and Brittany Corners will also be offering both 200- and 300-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings beginning in the fall.
In addition to teacher training, Moonbird Yoga is also hosting a Yoga Retreat in Costa Rica this November.
After the decision to close the studio for in-person classes in 2020, Blomberg and Corners, along with teachers, decided to act quickly and provide an at-home virtual, experience for the community. In less than 12 hours, a virtual experience was created delivering a Monday morning 5:30 a.m. virtual class.
Teachers open their hearts and physical homes to teach yoga. Throughout 2020, class offerings evolved from “Storytime Yoga with your Littles” to “Core Workout Classes.”
Moonbird designed limited edition, “Nested at Home” T-shirts to continue to support the studio as well as partnered with a nutrition company to provide students with healthy nutritional supplements.
Moonbird continues to offer the majority of classes as a live, virtual experience around the world, including to deployed military personnel.
