Airline begins destination flights to South Carolina from Lambert
United Airlines begins flying to two South Carolina leisure destinations from St. Louis Lambert International Airport this weekend. The new service includes flights to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head and will be operated as United Express flights.
United is now flying from St. Louis to Myrtle Beach. This route will operate each week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The airline will also fly to Hilton Head, S.C. on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
“United’s new routes to South Carolina are helping energize travelers back to the friendly skies,” said Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, STL director. “These two destinations show a real commitment by a major carrier to offer St. Louis travelers the most direct service to some very popular east coast tourist spots.”
United’s St. Louis service to Hilton Head will be unique. Unlike other airlines that fly into Savanah, GA to provide service to this popular U.S. tourist spot, United will fly directly into Hilton Head Island Airport. While it takes over 45 minutes to drive from Savannah to the South Carolina Island, the Hilton Head Airport is just minutes from the renowned Hilton Head Plantation.
United will use its new Bombardier CRJ-550 when flying to either destination. The plane has a total of 50 seats. The CRJ-550’s cabin is fashioned to offer passengers 10 first class seats, 20 seats designated as Economy Plus and the final 20 are assigned as economy. The plane features wifi and enough storage for every customer to bring a carry-on rollerboard bag onboard with them.
United Airlines ticketing operations at STL are in Terminal 1. The airline’s five gates are located in Concourse A ranging from A14 to A21.
