HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland received top marks on patients’ HCAHPS surveys for nurse communication, as reported by the Becker’s Hospital Review publication.
Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems is a national, standardized survey developed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, along with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The survey measures hospital patients’ perception of their experiences during a recent inpatient stay.
At least 89 percent of patients at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland responded that “nurses always communicated well.” St. Joseph’s Hospital was one of just eight hospitals in Illinois who received these high marks for nurse-patient communication. Another Hospital Sisters Health System hospital, HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, was also named to this list of eight hospitals with this high rating.
The figures are from CMS’ Hospital Compare website and represent HCAHPS scores collected from April 2018 through March 2019, the most recent data available at the time of publication.
