Latest stats show home prices up, days on market down in Metro East
Figures released this week showed home sales for the state of Illinois up 1.3 percent over September 2018,
In Metro East, they were up 1.2 percent, according to Illinois Realtors. Monroe County home sales were up 14.3 percent, while Madison County had a 5.3 percent increase over last September.
Year-to-date home sales were on the rise from this time last year in Madison County with a 4.5 percent increase.
Year-to-date home sales include all homes sold from Jan. 1 to Sept. 30.
Home prices continue to see a steady increase in the Metro East at 2.8 percent. Compared to September 2018, Clinton County home prices were up 9.5 percent with an average price of $165,864. St. Clair County homes saw a rise in prices of 4.1 percent with the average price being $159,779. Monroe County saw a 0.7 percent increase with a home price average of $208,141.
“We live in a great area, from access to wonderful colleges, to being a part of the Scott Air Force Base community, to a 15-minute commute from St. Louis, people want to live here.” says Donna Baker, president of the Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois.
In Macoupin County, days on market continue to decrease, with homes selling 56.7 percent faster, than in September 2018. St. Clair County homes sold 22.5 percent faster, and Madison County homes had a 2.9 percent decrease in days on market.
