Alton Main Street has launched a “Believe in Your Downtown” Residential Membership drive, which will culminate in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Mississippi Earthtones Festival on Broadway in Downtown Alton.
Alton Main Street is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing growth opportunities and stability for downtown businesses as well as charitable activities benefiting the Alton community at large, including special events, beautification projects, litter cleanups and historic preservation efforts.
Alton Main Street says it has enjoyed wide support through volunteerism, prompting the addition of residential membership opportunities.
“People around town have been increasingly expressing how much they appreciate what our organization is accomplishing,” said Adriana Daniel, Alton Main Street development manager, “Due to this feedback, we’ve created a residential membership option for anyone who would like to see our projects continue to grow and expand. The gift certificate is meant as a fun ‘thank you’ that also supports our downtown business partners and draws people to the district. It’s a win-win.”
“One of the top priorities for new memberships dollars is more aesthetic improvements,” added Emily Keener, Design Committee chairperson of the Alton Main Street Board of Directors, “With enough support, we would love to eventually be able to afford holiday decorations to entice holiday shoppers. We are very excited about the possibilities.”
