East-West Gateway honors Beach, Case with lifetime public service awards
East-West Gateway Council of Governments on Thursday bestowed government achievement awards upon eight recipients during its 53rd annual meeting and luncheon.
The top honor, the Gateway Lifetime Public Service Awards, went to Terry W. Beach and Mary E. Case, M.D.
Beach has had a lengthy career in public service with St. Clair County and as a onetime congressional aide to former U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello. Today, he is executive director of the St. Clair County Intergovernmental Grants Department and the county’s economic development director.
Case has served as a professor of pathology at Saint Louis University since 1973 and the chief medical examiner for St. Charles and St. Louis counties since 1986. In late 2017, the counties of St. Charles, Jefferson, and Franklin joined together to create a regional medical examiner office and named her to lead the joint agency.
