Taxpayer Revolt Rally planned in Collinsville
A Republican-led “Taxpayer Revolt Rally” is being planned for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Collinsville.
Annie Frey, a lifetime Madison County resident and host of The Annie Frey Show on FM NewsTalk 97.1, called on Illinois taxpayers to join her at the rally at the American Legion Post 365.
Particular targets are the Democratic majority under House Speaker Mike Madigan, who opponents say have passed tax increases and are prepared to do more of the same after the election.
“Taxpayers in the Metro East were forced to absorb a 32 percent tax hike in 2017. Now politicians in Springfield want us to swallow these job-killing taxes while they enrich themselves with pay raises and power,” Frey said.
Jeremy Plank, Madison County Republican chairman, said he is “excited to help Annie in this effort.”
Many of the region’s legislative and federal candidates — all Republicans — have indicated they will be present, he said.
