Ahead of Edwardsville’s America 250 events, local businesses have chance to participate
The City of Edwardsville will take a weeklong trek through history this summer to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Thanks to the collaboration of community groups, Edwardsville’s America 250 celebration will feature a fun and patriotic series of musical performances; a movie; historical reenactors; an all-ages parade in City Park; creative, thought-provoking activities; a gigantic community-decorated cake and, of course, a fantastic Fourth of July festival and phenomenal fireworks finale.
A new component of city’s America 250 celebration is a call for businesses and organizations within the corporate limits of Edwardsville to participate by featuring star-spangled items or activities. Participating businesses and organizations must operate within the corporate limits of the City of Edwardsville and must register on the city’s website. Full details can be found on the America 250 website under “Shop, Eat & Enjoy.”
Businesses and organizations wishing to participate need to sign up before June 28 at www.cityofedwardsville.com/250participate
Edwardsville’s America 250 celebration will include events from Sunday, June 28, through Saturday, July 4, at various locations. Additional activities are planned for June 13 through July 3 at the Edwardsville Public Library, 112 S. Kansas Street.
Activities are in honor of the day in 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was officially adopted.
