United States Postal Service hiring carriers in Illinois and Missouri

The United States Postal Service Gateway District says it is now hiring for rural carrier associates, positions that pay $17.40 an hour.

Training is provided. Interested applicants should log on to www.usps.com/careers to search by state (Missouri and Illinois) and apply for available positions. Paper applications are not accepted.

Duties and requirements include:

 Sorting, delivering, collecting mail on foot and/or by vehicle under a variety of weather conditions
 Maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive customer service experience
 May be required to provide own vehicle with automatic transmission to deliver the mail
 Working variable hours up to 6 days a week
 Must be 18 years of age and not enrolled in high school
 Must pass criminal background check
 Must pass drug screening
 Must have valid driver’s license (two years continuous)
 Must have good driving record
 Must be U.S. Citizen or have permanent resident alien status
