SHILOH — Realtors Association of Southwestern Illinois and affiliate members collected school supplies for two local organizations – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois and the Boys & Girls Club of America at Scott Air Force Base.
Many of the gifts were collected during the annual meeting and installation held at the Hidden Lake Winery in Aviston. Members could be seen bringing bags of school supplies to donate, including numerous backpacks, notebooks, glue, scissors, calculators, lunch bags, monetary donations and more.
“It is so important that every child is provided with the essential items to help them in their educational career. No child should ever have to worry about whether they’ll have pencils, a backpack, or any school supply, so this drive was very important,” said Mike Gross, newly-installed president.
RASI primarily serves the Illinois Metro East market area, including St. Clair, Monroe, Randolph and Clinton Counties, except for the easternmost townships of Irishtown, Clement, Lake, East Fork, Meridian and Brookside.
