Three from Southwestern Illinois among this year’s BBB Torch Award honorees

Three Metro East entities are on the list of winners of this year’s Torch Awards to be given for service by the Better Business Bureau serving Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois.

The event, which will honor 10 businesses, two charities and two students, will take place at a noon luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis.

Ten companies and two nonprofits will be recognized for their commitments to exceptional business ethics and customer satisfaction:

• A-Mrazek Moving Systems, Kirkwood, Mo.
• Beloman, Belleville.
• Branham Electric, St. Peters, Mo.
• Emmaus Homes, St. Charles, Mo.
• Experience on Demand, Chesterfield, Mo.
• Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois, Glen Carbon
• Helitech Waterproofing & Foundation Repair, Caseyville
• Kirberg Company, St. Louis
• Mungenast Automotive Family, St. Louis
• Shock City Studios, St. Louis
• United Services Disaster Restoration, Earth City, Mo.
• Wall 2 Wall Cleaning Services, O’Fallon, Mo.

Businesses are evaluated for their commitment to customer service through exceptional standards for ethical business practices. The awards committee, made up of previous winners, looks at how the company benefits customers, employees and the larger community. They also must meet BBB ethical, advertising and selling standards.

Companies and charities may nominate themselves, or they may be nominated by customers or other businesses.

“BBB’s TORCH Awards celebrate exceptional companies and charities with great customer service and ethics,” said Scott Mosby, BBB board chair and chief executive of Mosby Building Arts. “These companies, charities and students are examples to emulate for anyone who wants to be trusted in the marketplace.”

Dennis Lower, president and CEO of Cortex Innovation Community, will be the keynote speaker at the TORCH Awards luncheon.

Cortex has been instrumental in attracting technology and bioscience companies to midtown St. Louis.

Andre Hepkins, anchor of KMOV-TV, will emcee the event.

BBB presents winners with a crystal trophy that they can display. They may promote their status in advertising, marketing and on their websites.

The TORCH Awards event begins with Speaker Sponsor networking at 10:30 a.m., followed by Gain by Giving networking at 11:30. The luncheon is from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Khorassan Room at the Chase Park Plaza. Tickets are available at $60 a person, or $600 for a table of 10.
