Edwardsville Community Foundation hires Patty Navin as first executive director

EDWARDSVILLE – The board of the Edwardsville Community Foundation has appointed Patty Navin as the organization’s first executive director.
The foundation created the position with the intention of accelerating growth, increasing its impact on the community, and improving the quality of life for residents it serves.
“I am thrilled to have Patty as our first executive director. Her hiring is a major milestone for the foundation and reflects our growth over the years,” said Pete Fornof, chairman of the board. “I’ve worked with Patty on the ECF Board for several years and have always been impressed with her dedication to the foundation, familiarity with the community and its needs, and her expertise in charitable giving. Patty was instrumental in the formulation of our strategic plan as chairman and I look forward to working with her in achieving the foundation’s long term goals.”
Navin (left) has a history with the foundation that stretches over nine years. Most recently, she served as the board’s chair, from 2014 until her term ended in January 2016. Prior to that term, she served on the ECF board as vice chair from 2012-2014, treasurer from 2007-2012 and chair of the Grants Committee.
“I am thrilled to have accepted this opportunity to make our community a better place,” Navin said. “I admire this organization, the charities we serve, and the people we represent. I look forward to moving things forward for the betterment of the entire community.”
Navin has been active in the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon community for many years as a volunteer and throughout her career. She served as treasurer, as well as city clerk/comptroller, for the city of Edwardsville spanning 11 years. Navin was also employed as a director of finance for the village of Glen Carbon for eight years. She retired from the Glen Carbon post in September. She served as treasurer and president of the LeClaire and Columbus Schools’ PTO organizations, and as a board member of the Friends of Colonel Benjamin Stephenson House.
Navin has a B.S. in Business Administration, with an Accounting Specialization from SIUE and is a Certified Public Accountant. She worked in public accounting for eight years.
The Edwardsville Community Foundation was founded to create an organization where people could donate money that would directly impact the quality of life in the local communities. The foundation operates as a charitable trust that receives, manages, and distributes tax-deductible
charitable contributions for the benefit of the residents living in the local communities, as defined by the Edwardsville School District 7. Since its inception in 1997, the foundation has distributed more than $5.4 million to charitable causes.
