MLK Bridge will shut down for four months

From Illinois Business Journal news services

EAST ST. LOUIS – The Illinois Department of Transportation says the Martin Luther King Bridge will be closed to all traffic beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 20, for four months of work to replace the steel grid deck in the middle span.

The work will include structural steel repairs, expansion joint repairs and painting.

A marked detour utilizing Interstate 70 across the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge and the Tucker Avenue interchange in St. Louis will be in place to guide motorists around this bridge closure.

The contractor on this project is Keeley and Sons of East St. Louis.
