Ninth annual Schnucks Folds of Honor ‘Round Up at the Register’ raises $125K

Funds will provide 25 scholarships to families of military veterans and first responders
Schnuck Markets Inc. has announced that Schnucks customers and the company pledged a gift of $125,000 to benefit Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of veterans and first responders who were killed or injured in the line of duty.
The “Round Up at the Register” campaign, which ran May 13 – 26 at all Schnucks locations, invited customers to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar to benefit the foundation.
Customers donated $116,143, and Schnucks provided an additional $8,857. One hundred percent of these funds will benefit Folds of Honor and will provide 25 educational scholarships.
“As we prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, our customers once again showed their incredible generosity by supporting Folds of Honor and, ultimately, the families of military veterans and first responders,” said Schnucks Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck. “After nearly a decade, our partnership with Folds of Honor continues to nourish people’s lives, and we are proud of the impact we have made and the lives we have changed together.”
Folds of Honor was established in 2007 after Major Dan Rooney, a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, saw the grieving family of a fallen U.S. Army Corporal meeting their loved one’s flag-draped coffin on an airport tarmac.
The 501(c)(3) has awarded 73,000 scholarships to military and first responder spouses and children.
“The generosity of Schnucks customers continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families we serve. Every dollar raised through the Round Up campaign helps provide educational opportunities to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled military members and first responders,” said Folds of Honor Missouri & Southern Illinois President and CEO Matt Schwarz. “We are incredibly grateful to Schnucks, its teammates and customers for their continued commitment to our mission and for helping us honor sacrifice through education.”
Since 2018, the Schnucks Folds of Honor “Round Up at the Register” has raised $5.825 million – enough to support more than 1,100 scholarships.
