A new outdoor hospitality venture is taking shape near Raging Rivers WaterPark, with developers targeting a summer opening for Riverland RV Resort.

Owned and operated by Riverland RV Resort LLC, led by Ken Handler and Briant Buckwalter, the project is currently under construction and positioned as a family-focused destination designed to expand the region’s tourism footprint.

The resort will feature 68 RV sites, with lot sizes averaging approximately 35 by 60 feet, alongside select larger and smaller configurations. In addition to RV accommodations, the property plans to offer tent camping, pull-behind options and added docking capabilities, broadening its appeal beyond traditional RV travelers.

Located just a few hundred feet north of the Raging Rivers entrance on the same property, the resort is open to the general public—not limited to water park visitors—signaling a standalone draw within the Metro East leisure market.

Beyond proximity to the water park, developers are investing heavily in on-site attractions to drive extended stays and repeat visits. A planned “Lumber Jacks” family adventure park will anchor the experience, featuring activities such as mini golf, RC car tracks, zorb ball experiences, axe throwing for youth, live entertainment at the Great Oak Theater, and outdoor recreation including bocce, cornhole and geo-hunting.

Handler notes, “We have a complete line for families to enjoy and are very excited about it. Our team has been working extremely hard to get this done. We are excited to be providing this amazing family adventure.”

The resort is expected to operate primarily on a seasonal basis, with potential for year-round RV accommodations. Anticipated seasonal programming includes hayrides, concerts, movies, line dancing, and arts and crafts.

Developers say the project reflects a broader push to create a destination-level, family-oriented experience in the region, blending recreation, entertainment and lodging into a single offering aimed at both local visitors and out-of-town travelers.

Pricing will follow a dynamic model based on site selection and demand. More information, including reservations and rate details, is available at the company’s website, riverlandrv.com.
