Caritas Family Solutions annual Heart & Soul Gala raises over $286K

Caritas Family Solutions recently announced that it raised more than $286,366 at its 13th annual Heart & Soul Gala held on Feb. 21, 2026.
The funds will support the nonprofit’s efforts to strengthen the social and emotional well-being of more than 6,500 individuals across southern Illinois and the Metro East.
“Each year, we are overwhelmed by the love and support from our communities, and this year was no exception,” said Caritas Family Solutions CEO Gary Huelsmann. “Our theme, The Stories We Write Together, perfectly reflects the evening and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to learn more about the important work happening at Caritas. It serves as a powerful reminder of the vital role we play in supporting those who rely on us. I extend my heartfelt thanks to our donors and supporters who joined us in celebrating our mission to improve the lives of children, adults and families in our communities.”
KSDK’s Michelle Li emceed this year’s event, which featured a silent auction, personal testimonies and the presentation of the Heart & Soul Award.
The Heart & Soul Award honors an individual or organization that exemplifies the nonprofit’s mission through service and generosity.
This year’s recipients were Lisa Maurer, Mary Barchet and Sandy Tutka of Farm Girl Finds, an organization that has contributed more than 156 volunteer hours and donated more than $7,000 in support of Caritas and its mission.
The presenting sponsors for this year’s event were Contegra Cares and Dave and Jill Wenzel.
