HSHS names Mark Thorn as Southern Illinois Market CFO

Mark Thorn, MBA, FACHE
Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS), a leading Catholic health ministry with operations in Illinois and Wisconsin, recently announced that Mark Thorn, MBA, FACHE, has been named chief financial officer (CFO) for its Southern Illinois Market. He begins his role Jan. 26, 2026.
In this role, Thorn is responsible for monitoring financial performance and maintaining appropriate financial plans and forecasts, serving as key financial liaisons to market executives and supporting operational leaders at the Southern Illinois Market ministries.
HSHS Southern Illinois Market includes HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon; HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese; HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland and HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville.
Thorn is a financial and operational leader with more than two decades of experience across rural, community and multi-site health care organizations leading comprehensive financial management, revenue cycle optimization, strategic planning and more. He joins HSHS after serving as executive director of Finance and Operations for Mercy Hospital Lincoln and Mercy Hospital Washington in Troy, Mo. Previously, he served as chief financial officer for Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy and Northwest Medical Center in Albany, Mo.
He holds an MBA in finance and healthcare administration from Northcentral University and a Bachelor of Science in management and accounting from Southwest Baptist University.
