An announcement from Gateway Regional Medical Center was made recently indicating that its Gateway Urgent Care facility located in Glen Carbon at 4273 State Route 159 would close permanently in May.

The clinic will permanently close at the end of business on May 14, 2025. All medical records will be transferred to Gateway Regional Medical Center and be accessible to any patients’ future healthcare providers.

The closure was announced in a Facebook post on April 14.

“This decision was not made lightly, and we understand the impact it may have on our patients and the community,” said Gateway Regional Medical Center CEO Michelle Waller, RN, MSN, in the post. “We want to assure you that your health and well-being remain our top priority.”

“We understand that this may raise concerns or questions regarding your medical records or ongoing treatments. Rest assured; we have taken steps to ensure the continuity of your care,” the post further noted. “Although our urgent care services will no longer be available, we encourage you to seek medical attention from other healthcare providers in the area.”

Waller further expressed Gateway’s gratitude to its patients for allowing them to serve the patients’ healthcare needs and also thanked patients for entrusting them with their care.
