Alton Main Street announces 2026 live music series lineup

Alton Main Street recently announced its lineup of regional musicians that have been booked to perform throughout the organization’s 2026 event season. A total of 22 bands will be featured throughout its 2026 music lineup.

Nine weeks of live bands have been scheduled for the Night Market on Broadway, which takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. every Thursday in June and July.

Offering a diverse mix of styles and sounds, there’s something for everyone at Night Market, which is returning to the green space on 3rd Street next door to Catdaddy’s in downtown Alton again this season:

June: Local favorite Spillie Nelson gets the party started on June 4 with their familiar favorite jams, followed by Miller Floyd on June 11 playing Blues, Rock, Country and Pop. The Deal on June 18 is a side project of members of Jake’s Leg, so you can expect a healthy dose of Grateful Dead tunes, and then on June 25, The Wherehouse Project will take the stage with their unique style of old school cover tunes from the early aughts – think Dave Matthews and Rusted Root.

July: Night Market will rock America’s 250th celebration week with Red, White, and Floyd – an incredible Pink Floyd tribute and light show on July 2. Two Shots of Whiskey will bring some country and soul on July 9, and Crystal Lady performs original music on July 16, featuring fierce female vocals on top of a hard-driving, alternative rock power trio. The Vibe will bring high energy, foot stomping classic rock on July 23. Wrapping up the season will be the smooth sounds of the Yacht Rockers on July 30.

At this free summer concert series you can enjoy live music in an outdoor setting, artwork and other handmade or homegrown products, plus vintage and hip thrift items.

Vendors will line Sugar Alley which runs parallel to Broadway from the Alton Visitor Center to Morrison’s Irish Pub, as well as on the sidewalks near Jacoby Arts Center at 208 State Street and Mooneyham Art at 305 State Street. Come early and stay late to enjoy the neighboring businesses; many retailers will stay open late for the occasion with fantastic shopping and delicious food and beverage options.

During the All-Wheels Drive-In Car Show on Sunday, June 7, The Houseshakers will perform on the main stage at the corner of 3rd and Belle Streets from 1 to 3 p.m. This eight-piece band features “golden oldies,” favorites from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.

Seven acoustic musical acts will also grace the Alton Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market special events calendar this season:

May: The market’s music roster kicks off on May 30, showcasing the talent of the young but mighty Charlotte Lenore with her guitar and ukulele.

June: Local favorites Ken Christopher and Linda Mortland will delight attendees with unplugged versions of classic rock songs on June 6. The eclectic sound of Acoustic Potluck will be featured on June 20, which includes folk songs on hammered dulcimer and more. Singer-songwriter Lauren Waters joins the market on June 27.

August: After a bit of a break for other fun activities, live music returns on Aug. 29 with the Psychedelic Symphony Duo’s groovy sounds.

September: On Sept. 5, Keith Domescik, a regular performer on the regional farmers market circuit will entertain the crowd with a wide variety of hits on acoustic guitar. Rounding out the season’s live-music entertainment is Irish folk music with the Dead Shamrocks on Sept. 19.

Check out our variety of artist demonstrations and other themed activities on the rest of the market weekends through Oct. 17, from 8 a.m. to 12 Noon every Saturday. Find the market at the corner of Landmarks Blvd. and Henry Street where you can purchase locally-grown seasonal produce, breakfast items and baked goods, in addition to hand-crafted artwork and handmade products of all kinds. The market vendors change every week, so come down often to see what’s new.

The musical crown jewel of the year is the Mississippi Earthtones Festival from 12 Noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19; a free art, music and conservation festival all in one.

The festival, co-hosted by Alton Main Street, the Sierra Club, and Jacoby Arts Center, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year at Alton’s Riverfront Amphitheater.

MEF attracts thousands of community members to the riverfront every third Saturday in September to enjoy the line-up of live music:

  • This year, festival goers will be treated to original tunes from the Matt Taul Band from 12 Noon to 1:45 p.m.
  • Crowd favorite one-man-ten-piece-band Jason “Gordo” Gordon will perform from both 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. and from 6 to 7 p.m.
  • From 3:15 to 6 p.m., Master Blaster Stevie Wonder Tribute has been added to the mix; the band’s frontman is STL celebrity Steve Ewing from The Urge.
  • As is tradition, MEF’s headlining act will be Jake’s Leg – the longest running Grateful Dead Tribute in the world at 50 years and counting. While the band draws mainly on the repertoire of America’s favorite psychedelic blues-rock jug band, the musicians of Jake’s Leg naturally bring their own sensibilities to each part: The introspective singer-songwriter, the jazz stylings of an improvising soloist, rock-solid dance grooves and mind-bending jams are all in play at their shows, which also include songs by Bob Dylan, Phish and much more.

The Mississippi Earthtones Festival is truly a family-friendly event, with a kids zone, environmental education booths, earth friendly activities, art installations, and many delicious local food & beverage choices.

The Downtown Alton Chili Cook-Off on Sunday, Oct. 18, will return to last year’s location – FLOCK Food Truck Park. From 12 Noon until 3 p.m., popular local favorite Psychedelic Symphony will perform their acoustic folk rock while you enjoy the tasty submissions to the cook-off. Participants will get to vote for the coveted People’s Choice Silver Ladle.

Alton Main Street encourages you to mark your calendars now for all of the above dates, and plan to be a part of the crowd for all of the fun that’s in store. For more information on the many ways that Alton Main Street is working to enhance and promote Alton’s historic downtown district, visit www.DowntownAlton.com.
