Cogeris Insurance Group enters Illinois, Kentucky markets

Jim Bowlin
Vowing to satisfy the medical professional liability insurance needs of Illinois and Kentucky physicians, Cogeris Insurance Group has announced its expansion to those states.
“These states are underserved but paying higher rates, and we’re committed to giving them better choices,” said Cogeris President Jim Bowlin.
Records show the states of Illinois and Kentucky each have a single medical malpractice carrier with significant market share and that rates have been increasing. “Illinois and Kentucky medical providers and facilities deserve to have more options at competitive pricing, and we’ll be providing that to them,” Bowlin said. “Physicians in private practice are becoming increasingly pushed financially and we plan to be a solutions-partner for them,” he continued.
Cogeris has already completed the necessary licensing and will have two regions overseen by regional managers – Chicago metro, and the remainder of Illinois along with Kentucky.
Illinois has nearly 47,000 physicians, while Kentucky has over 12,000.
