Edwardsville Neighbors recently announced the return of the community’s favorite Thanksgiving tradition, the Edwardsville Neighbors Turkey Trot, happening Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE).

This family-friendly 5K and 1-mile fun run kicks off at 8 a.m., giving participants the perfect start to Thanksgiving Day with a healthy, feel-good event that benefits a great cause. The Turkey Trot brings together thousands of runners, walkers, families, and friends each year to raise funds for local families in crisis through the work of Edwardsville Neighbors.

In addition to the scenic campus route and festive holiday spirit, this year’s race includes a special new partnership with local business Wrenn & Rae. Participants will have the option to choose a custom LED belt bag by Wrenn & Rae as their official race swag – a fun, functional way to light up the morning run while supporting small business and community giving.

“We’re so excited to partner with the Edwardsville Neighbors Turkey Trot and share our Wrenn & Rae LED Belt Bags, logoed just for this event,” said Ashley Dicks, owner of Wrenn & Rae. “Supporting small businesses is a passion for us, and being able to contribute to a non-profit that brings our community together makes it even more meaningful. Lucas and I love seeing neighbors connect, get active, and celebrate local impact!”

All proceeds from the Turkey Trot directly benefit Edwardsville Neighbors, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting local families facing medical, financial, or emergency hardships.

“The Turkey Trot has truly become a Thanksgiving morning tradition in Edwardsville. It’s such a fun, active way for families to start the day together, and every registration makes a difference by supporting Edwardsville Neighbors and the families of District 7,” said Aleah Likas, Edwardsville Neighbors board member.

Participants can register and find complete race details at edwardsvilleturkeytrot.com. Those who register by Nov. 12 will be guaranteed their choice of a navy blue Turkey Trot-branded beanie or the new Wrenn & Rae LED belt bag. Strollers are welcome on the course.
