Bank of Springfield was founded in 1965 by Jack A. Marantz and a group of local businesspeople in Springfield, Ill.

Marantz’s vision when opening the first branch was to provide the community with exceptional banking products and services through excellence and local ownership. The original branch is still in operations in Springfield at 2600 Adlai Stevenson Drive.

Its tradition continues as well today under the leadership of Board Chair Tom Marantz, CEO Jason Knoedler and President Mike Pence.  “I am most grateful for what we have been able to do for our communities alongside a group of people that mean so much to me,” says Tom Marantz.  “Sixty years is a lot of history but feels quick at the same time.”

In 2000, the bank first expanded into Jacksonville. BOS now serves 13 communities and 16 full-service branches in Illinois and Missouri.  The most recent expansion markets include Kansas City, Bloomington – Normal, and Champaign.

60 years later, the bank’s employees have grown from a team of four to over 300 strong, and the vision remains the same.  “We built BOS one customer at a time and will continue to prioritize lifelong relationships with our customers, employees, and the communities we serve,” the official celebration announcement further noted.

BOS now has $1.8 billion in assets, over 2.6 billion in loans, including $899 million in secondary mortgage loans, and an additional $273 million in service released agricultural loans. The bank’s services include business banking, trust administration, BOS Wealth and Planning, BOS Asset Management, and BOS Insurance Agency.

BOS is celebrating their 60th anniversary with Customer Appreciation Week from Oct. 25 to Nov. 1.  Customers are invited to stop in their local branch for a special gift.
