O’Fallon City Administrator Walter Denton submits resignation

O’Fallon City Administrator Walter Denton has submitted his resignation after serving the city with distinction for 22 years. His last day will be Sept. 21, 2025.
Denton has led the day-to-day operations of the City of O’Fallon since 2002 and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the community and work alongside elected officials, staff, and residents to enhance the city’s quality of life.
“I am deeply thankful for my time in O’Fallon,” said Denton. “It has been an honor to work with such a dedicated team and to help shape the continued growth and success of this great city. I leave confident in the City’s future and the strength of its leadership.”
During his tenure, Denton played a key role in numerous city initiatives, including economic development, infrastructure improvements, and expanding public services. Notable accomplishments include the construction of a new Public Safety Facility, Family Sports Park, Fire Station 4, and O’Fallon Station. The recent opening of the Community Park Enhancement Project contains a new pool, community center, amphitheater, and outdoor event space. His leadership has contributed significantly to O’Fallon’s reputation as one of the region’s most desirable places to live and do business.

“Walter’s years of tireless service to the City of O’Fallon have been marked by loyalty, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to our community,” said Mayor Eric Van Hook. “His dedication to public service and genuine passion for O’Fallon have played a key role in shaping the city’s progress and success. We are truly grateful for his many contributions and wish him nothing but the best in the next chapter of his journey.”
Effective Sept. 21, 2025, Assistant City Administrator Grant Litteken will serve as Interim City Administrator until a permanent replacement is named.
