Edwardsville to host April 7 public hearing on Old North Interceptor sewer replacement

A public hearing will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025 in Edwardsville’s City Council Chambers (located at 118 Hillsboro Ave.).

The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comments on the Project Plan prepared by the City of Edwardsville, Ill., and a Preliminary Environmental Impacts Determination (PEID) prepared by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

These documents refer to the Old North Interceptor Sewer Replacement to upgrade the size of the Old North Interceptor sewer to increase the capacity of the sewer and replace aging pipes.

The Project Plan and PEID will available upon request at the Department of Public Works office located at 200 East Park Street, Edwardsville, Ill.

It is the intention of the City to obtain a low interest loan from the Illinois EPA’s Revolving Loan Fund with which to fund construction of the proposed improvements.

This notice and the public hearing are required by 35 Illinois Administrative Code Chapter II, Section 365.330.

At the hearing and for a period of 10 days after the hearing, comments will be accepted on the proposed plan and PEID by the Director of Public Works, 200 E. Park Street, Edwardsville, Ill.

A transcript of the hearing and an accurate summary of all subsequent comments will be submitted to IEPA for their further consideration and further action.
