‘Crawlin Around the Christmas Tree’ is a success for Edwardsville Neighbors

 

Christmas cheer took over downtown Edwardsville as nearly 200 festive participants gathered for the third annual Crawlin’ Around the Christmas Tree bar crawl.

The event, which raises funds for the local nonprofit Edwardsville Neighbors, featured nine participating bars and a lively community turnout. Organized by local real estate agents Tara Riggs and Julie Fleck, the bar crawl included four raffle baskets filled with gift cards and swag from local businesses and Robert “Chick” Fritz, Inc., a local third generation, family-owned beer distributor.

Tickets granted participants access to exclusive food and drink specials, a festive swag bag, and an evening of holiday spirit. Attendees embraced the theme by donning creative costumes ranging from ugly Christmas sweaters to Santa suits, and light-up necklaces and headbands.

The event raised an impressive $4,725 for Edwardsville Neighbors, an organization dedicated to easing financial hardships for local families.

Founded in 2009 by Edwardsville residents Chad and Kathie Opel, the nonprofit plays a vital role in supporting the community, particularly during the holiday season.

“We are so grateful for Tara, Julie, and everyone who contributed to this wonderful event,” said Chad Opel. “These funds allow us to continue providing much-needed assistance to families in need.”

Riggs and Fleck expressed their gratitude to the participants, local businesses, and the bars that made the evening a success.

Both Riggs and Fleck are RE/MAX Alliance realtors specializing in residential real estate, serving Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, and surrounding communities.
