United Way of Greater St. Louis issues Regional Holiday Volunteer Guide
Hundreds of opportunities are available to spread joy and impact communities
The United Way of Greater St. Louis (UWGSL) Holiday Volunteer Guide is available online featuring hundreds of volunteer opportunities to spread joy and give back to the community.
The Guide can be found at STLVolunteer.org/hvg.
Since starting the Holiday Volunteer Guide in 2012, thousands of people choose to donate their time to help others during the holidays.
“Our communities are stronger when generous people unite to lend their time and talent for the greater good of the community,” said Rick Skinner, vice president of UWGSL’s Volunteer Center. “Fortunately, this time of year is when the spirit of service to the community is at an all-time high and we hope people will use our Holiday Volunteer Guide where you can easily find opportunities that will make a positive impact.”
All of the opportunities listed are through reputable nonprofit agencies throughout the St. Louis region in Missouri and Illinois. There is a wide array of volunteer opportunities that people can explore. Choose a volunteer opportunity by location, age, skillset, passion and keyword. Additionally, there are in-person, virtual and do-it-yourself at home opportunities available through the Guide.
Current examples include creating holiday goodie bags for local children, delivering holiday meals for homebound individuals, serving as a greeter and assisting with children’s activities at local holiday events, sorting and organizing clothes and donations, and unloading and bagging meals at local food pantries. Virtual and do-it-yourself opportunities include filling out holiday greeting cards for older adults, contributing to holiday wish lists and creating holiday wreaths for those who are newly housed.
