Jarvis Township unveils solar project

Shown is the completed project.
Officials from Jarvis Township recently joined local elected representatives and chamber volunteers for the unveiling of a new solar panel project projected to save local township taxpayers approximately $2,000 per year.
The project, which will be 100 percent reimbursed through federal incentivized tax credits, state solar renewable energy credits (SRECs), and a $15,000 environmental grant from Madison County, includes 28 solar panels on the Township Office roof at 112 North Main Street in Troy.
“I want to thank our local County Board representatives Stacey Pace and Dalton Gray, along with Madison County Treasurer Chris Slusser, for helping us to secure County support for this project,” said Jarvis Township Supervisor Al Adomite. “Thanks to the environmental grant program, this project is saving local taxpayers from day one.”
Other officials present for the ceremony included State Rep. Charlie Meier (R-Okawville), Jarvis Township Clerk Alan Dunstan and Assessor Jessica Dudley, Jarvis Township Trustee Scott Wiesehan, as well as Ameren Illinois Manager Michael Pittman and Chamber President Carol Sparks.
“We applaud Jarvis Township for taking action to control their energy usage and costs,” said Michael Pittman, Manager, Distributed Energy resources and Clean Energy Programs for Ameren Illinois. “As our state and nation make the transition to a decarbonized energy sector, Ameren Illinois is committed to working with renewable energy developers and community partners to get solar facilities connected to the grid and deliver the savings and environmental benefits to the community.”
