Local aesthetic physician educates on skincare trends for 2024

Dr. Kristen Jacobs

It’s the new year and often with fresh starts come new and emerging trends within the skincare industry. Kristen M. Jacobs, MD, aesthetic physician, best-selling author and owner of Ooh La La Spa, Anti-Aging & Wellness is educating people on what skincare trends will encourage people to take better care of their skin in 2024.

“It is truly all about the natural, glowy, “no makeup” look this year,” said Dr. Jacobs. “This means focusing on a simple routine that includes cleansing, wearing a daily sunscreen, a concentrated serum like retinol and a moisturizer. Prevention is key and the trend of preventing damage rather than fixing it is something I often preach. I’m so excited that people are finally getting the picture on how important it is to take care of your skin, the largest organ in your body.”

Dr. Jacobs said skincare enthusiasts all over social media have continued to grow their following, and some of these influencers often showcase at-home device treatments. If there is a product like an LED mask or face massager that you’re not sure will truly address your skin concerns, Dr. Jacobs and her staff will be able to guide you on what can make a difference for your skin.

“I’m relieved to see that the younger generation and social media is catching up to what we educate our patients on here at Ooh La La,” said Dr. Jacobs. “Sometimes what is trending is not actually what’s best for your skin. However, gone are the days that teenagers are headed to the tanning salon to damage their skin, which is a relief. We’ve been hearing from our patients and seeing across social media platforms that a focus on having a strong immune system, solid routine and using products that stimulate collagen and elastin are what it’s all about.”

Dr. Jacobs said another big trend they are seeing is an increase in people looking for treatments like microneedling, light therapy and lasers that help rejuvenate the skin and boost its ability to address a host of concerns like aging, skin texture and inflammation. If you are interested in any skincare concerns, head to kristenjacobs.com to learn more.
