PSOP, AmeriCorps Seniors, VFW Post 1739 join together for Flag Collection event
September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance (also known as Patriot Day) unites all Americans in remembering the heroes, armed forces, first responders and countless others acts of service that defend our nation’s freedom.
Beginning on Sept. 11, 2023, Southwestern Illinois College’s Programs and Services for Older Persons (PSOP), AmeriCorps Seniors and VFW Post 1739 will join together to initiate a flag collection site at PSOP. This event kicks off at 10 a.m. at PSOP with a member of VFW Post 1739. Attendees will learn about the history of our American flag, gain inspiration in this symbol of our country, and gain knowledge on the proper care and retirement of unserviceable or tattered flags.
PSOP will also serve as a flag collection site for unserviceable flags starting Sept. 11 through Nov. 9, 2023 in honor of Veteran’s Day.
PSOP will be closed on Nov. 10, 2023.
Located at 201 N. Church St., Belleville, IL 62220, the PSOP facility is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. During periods of inclement weather, PSOP is closed when Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC Belleville campus) closes.
