Marty Lyons, Scott Hartwig to lead United Way of Greater St. Louis 2023 campaign

United Way of Greater St. Louis announced that Marty Lyons, president and CEO of Ameren Corporation, and Scott Hartwig, commercial banking leader and market executive for Greater St. Louis, will serve as chair and co-chair, respectively, of its 2023 annual community campaign.

“United Way has served as a beacon of hope in the St. Louis region for decades, and this outstanding organization’s monumental impact continues to change lives every day,” said Lyons. “I am honored to join United Way as the campaign co-chair and contribute to the greater goal of strengthening the stability of our St. Louis region.”

United Way’s campaign equips over 160 local nonprofits with vital funding and training resources to keep the region’s safety net healthy. They invest in a 16-county region throughout Missouri and Illinois that helps 1 million people annually. Its support across the region focuses on essential needs, early childhood and youth success, health and wellbeing, jobs and financial mobility, and community and crisis response.

“The positive impact that United Way and its amazing partners have had on our region is immeasurable and we are so fortunate to have an organization in our community like United Way that supports a breadth of different causes,” said Hartwig. “I am excited to take on this role and be a part of United Way’s continued efforts to help countless individuals and families throughout the community.”

In addition to funding its health and human service partners, United Way manages the region’s largest Volunteer Center, and 211 Helpline, a 24/7 free resource connecting people to programs and services for a variety of needs.

United Way’s annual campaign begins in early September and runs through the fall.

About Scott Hartwig:

Scott Hartwig joined Regions Bank in June 2014 and leads the Commercial Banking Team for the Midwest Area. Prior to assuming his current role, he held a number of positions including unit president and senior relationship manager at Enterprise Bank, and trust and senior vice president and client manager at Bank of America.

Hartwig earned a bachelor’s degree in financial management from Missouri State University and his MBA from St. Louis University.

For nine years, Hartwig served as a board member, officer, and secretary for Lutheran Senior Services, the 16^th largest nonprofit multisite senior housing provider in the United States and currently serves as an active member of the financing committee.  He is currently an active board member on the Regional Business Council, Greater St. Louis, Inc. and the St. Louis Sports Commission Board.  He is also active in his church, Pathfinder – Ellisville, where he served as president of the board of directors and former member of the Finance Committee.

About Marty Lyons:

Marty Lyons became president and CEO of Ameren Corporation and a member of the Board of Directors on Jan. 1, 2022. Lyons was previously chairman and president of Ameren Missouri, a position he held for two years after previously serving 18 years in a variety of positions within Ameren.

As Ameren Missouri president, Lyons led Missouri’s largest investor-owned energy provider through the COVID-19 pandemic. In his time as president, he improved customer satisfaction, safety, and operating performance. Lyons was elected executive vice president and chief financial officer of Ameren Corporation in 2009 and president of Ameren Services in 2015. He was responsible for all aspects of Ameren’s financial affairs including investor relations, financial reporting, accounting, tax, treasury and internal audit. He also oversaw strategy, enterprise risk management, digital information technology, supply chain and corporate nuclear oversight, among other functions.

In addition, Lyons has been active within the utility industry having been the past chairman of the Finance Committee, Finance Executive Advisory Committee and Chief Accounting Officers Advisory Committee of the Edison Electric Institute. He is involved with various community organizations, which have included the Saint Louis Zoo, City Academy, St. Louis Regional Chamber, the Saint Louis University Chaifetz School of Business, and Washington University Olin School of Business.
