From St. Louis Regional Freightway: A closer look at the IL Route 3 Corridor

Those who care about advancing the St. Louis region may already be aware that Illinois Route 3 is the backbone of a 60-mile corridor that runs parallel to St. Louis along the Mississippi River and Interstate 255. This area generates $16 billion in annual business revenue, supports 221,881 direct and indirect jobs, and has an incredible concentration of industrial, warehousing and distribution operations.

A recent study reveals this corridor is distinguished by three characteristics: It’s home to an accessible and highly skilled workforce; optimized for manufacturing and logistics and has an economically impactful and successful business climate.

The study was commissioned by the St. Louis Regional Freightway, which is partnering with public sector and private industry businesses to promote the bi-state region as a premier multimodal freight hub and distribution center in the United States and to serve as advocates for infrastructure development to support the movement of freight.

The Illinois Route 3 Corridor has a key role to play in the St. Louis region’s continued advancement as a world-class freight hub that delivers global access from the heart of the nation’s freight network, and I thought that might be of interest to you.
