American Healthcare Systems (AHS), headquartered in Los Angeles, Calif., has signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire 305-bed Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Ill.
Gateway would join the growing AHS system of community-based hospitals, multi-specialty physician practices, outpatient clinics, and home health services. “Becoming part of AHS is an exciting milestone for our hospital,” said Shane Watson, CEO of Gateway Regional Medical Center. “AHS shares our values to improve access to patient care by enhancing services in this important safety net hospital in the Granite City community.”
“AHS helps community hospitals flourish in today’s challenging healthcare environment by focusing on infusing capital to expand existing services,” said Michael Sarian, Chairman and CEO of American Healthcare Systems. “We look forward to welcoming Gateway Regional Medical Center into our system of care and working together to expand health care services for residents of Granite City and beyond.”
