The RiverBend Growth Association’s annual LeadHership Seminar is back, live and in person in 2022.

The event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, at Enjoy Church in Alton.

Attendees do not need to be a member of the Growth Association to take advantage of this leadership development opportunity. Registration is now underway and filling up quickly. Non-RBGA members can register for $40 per person, while RiverBend Growth Association members can register at $30 per person.

On tap to share exclusive insights on hot topics affecting women in leadership today are three dynamic speakers. They are Nina DeAngelo, Keisha Gwin and Peggy Lewis LeCompte.

Delivering a message of “You Can’t Spell Aweso(me) without ME,” Nina DeAngelo is a mindset, empowerment and business coach as well as an Army veteran. Her passion: To help other business owners be successful and reach their highest potential.

Spending nearly nine years in the United States Army in logistics, DeAngelo attained the rank of sergeant while serving. Now vice president of her O’Fallon, Mo., chamber of commerce, DeAngelo has been a member of the chamber for nine years.

In 2020, DeAngelo embarked on her own journey of self-development in the field of neurolinguistic programming (NLP). She ultimately graduated and is a certified master coach and trainer in the field.

DeAngelo uses these tools now in her own business, Dynamic Shift. She helps other business owners understand their own decision-making and thought processes. And she helps them to also understand how their mindset can make or break them.

Keisha Gwin will share her message with LeadHership Seminar attendees through a dialogue of “The Gifts of Imperfections: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are.”

Gwin also served our country, for 20 years, before retiring from the United States Air Force in 2017. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications and Journalism from the University of Maryland-University College. She currently serves as the Worship Arts and Compassion Ministry director with Enjoy Church at its Alton and O’Fallon, Ill., locations.

And with a message of “Empower, Inspire and Uplift,” the third speaker for the RBGA LeadHership Seminar is Peggy Lewis LeCompte.

Serving now as senior advisor for Illinois State Rep. LaToya Greenwood, LeCompte is a retired educator from East St. Louis Public School District.

She is also the national coordinator of the TLOD A TEAAM for African American Males, vice president of the Pearls of Power Foundation, member of the Lighthouse Foundation, and a life member of the NAACP, Top Ladies of Distinction Inc., and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

A self-described “product” of the East St. Louis Public School System, LeCompte furthered her education at Lincoln University, the National College of Education, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

With East St. Louis Public School District, she served as the Instructional Literacy and Language Arts Coach, department chair of Language Arts, and coordinator of the “Out of the Box” after-school program.

Attendees will engage with each of these three dynamic speakers. They will also have ample opportunity to network with other leading women from throughout the region.

At the end of this half-day Friday afternoon seminar, participants will leave the church site at 3303 Homer M. Adams Pkwy. in Alton, feeling empowered, inspired, and uplifted as they head into their mid-October fall season weekend.

An awards ceremony to honor a select slate of nominated professional women in the RiverBend area also takes place during the event.

Winners of the 2022 RBGA LeadHership Inspire Awards will be named. And one special recipient will receive the 2022 RBGA LeadHership Empowerment Award.

This year’s nominees are Noel Bratton; Margaret “Peggy” Dugger; Tammy Iskarous; Katie Johnson; Ameera Nauman, MD; Tracy Ross; Stacy Seitz; Jennifer Shewmaker; Nicole Smith and Takisha Walker.

The title sponsor for the 2022 RBGA LeadHership Seminar is Karen Wilson, State Farm Insurance.

Other sponsorship opportunities for this unique part of the afternoon are still available. For more details, contact the RBGA office or visit online at https://growthassociation.com/womens-seminar-sponsorships/.

Local vendors will also be on hand throughout the LeadHership Seminar. They will share wares uniquely selected with the attendees’ needs and wants top of mind.

One other unique feature of the event is its wine pull. Attendees can select from a variety of donated wines and further help advance the mission of the RBGA.

As RBGA Member Engagement Director Stefanie Withers noted, “Sponsoring this annual seminar is a perfect opportunity to have your name in front of area businesswomen. Attending the event allows you to grow personally and professionally.”
