Leadership Council begins interviews for executive director

The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois is encouraging qualified candidates to apply for the role of executive director for the regional economic development organization.

Board Chairman Richard J. Mark (shown) indicated that the executive committee is slated to begin reviewing applications on Nov. 2.

The executive director is charged with mobilizing leaders in business, industry, labor, and education to attract investment, create/retain sustainable income jobs, and lead a long-term growth strategy for the Southwestern Illinois region. Candidates for this high-profile role will demonstrate exceptional business and negotiating capabilities, superior relationship-building skills, and a collaborative approach to building partnerships and leading teams.

“We’re seeking leaders with a breadth of business experience, a track record of accomplishments, and a commitment to the Southwestern Illinois region,” Mark said. “This area is poised to accomplish big things making this is a great opportunity for the right person.”

The incumbent candidate will replace Dr. Ronda Sauget, who recently announced her resignation after a 20-year career with the Leadership Council. Under Sauget’s stewardship, the Council has grown from 130 members to more than 250 engaged businesses and organizations.
