Guardrails to be repaired over several months on Great River Road
Some six months of work will be needed to make guardrail repairs along a key segment of the Great River Road between Alton and Grafton, the Illinois Department of Transportation says.
IDOT announced intermittent lane closures are to take place along Illinois Route 100 between Alton, in Madison County, and Lockhaven Road, in Jersey County. The work began this week, with one lane to remain open in each direction at all times. This work is to be completed by June 2021.
Drivers may experience minor delays when traveling through the work zone. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
The contractor on this project is Lovewell Fencing out of Davenport, Iowa.
