Area firm adds FDA-authorized COVID-19 antibody testing

A St. Louis-based company that specializes in disease testing is now offering FDA-authorized lab-based COVID-19 antibody testing in the United States.

The FDA authorization of partner Quest Diagnostics allows the company to immediately coordinate testing for the COVID-19 antibody test anywhere in the U.S.

Priority STD Testing is an online platform that has been coordinating confidential testing between physicians and patients for a variety of diseases for nearly 10 years.  Since 2010 the company has coordinated more than 50,000 tests for individuals through partner Quest Diagnostics, a CLIA certified testing laboratory.

“Our mission has always been to give people valuable information to make informed decisions about their health, but this may be the most important test we’ve ever offered.  Having a baseline understanding of whether someone has had COVID-19 is valuable information during a pandemic but should not be used as the sole basis for making health decisions,” said managing partner Amin Mohabbat.

The testing process is said to be easy, convenient and confidential. The total cost of the test is $129 and takes a few minutes to set up online.

The process begins with a brief online assessment to ensure testing is appropriate for each individual. The test will be approved by a physician, ordered and paid for online. The individual can find the nearest Quest testing facility through the Priority website and take the generated script there to complete the test.  A secure link with test results is emailed to the individual within 1-3 days.

COVID-19 antibody testing is not appropriate for all individuals, including those who may be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or may have been exposed to the virus less than 14 days prior to testing.

For more information about the testing process or to find out whether COVID-19 antibody testing is appropriate visit the Priority Testing website.
