Alton St. Patrick’s Day Festival cancelled

The Downtown Alton St. Patrick’s Day Festival is cancelled for Saturday, March 14, the Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau announced Thursday afternoon.

Downtown Alton streets will not be closed and shuttles will not be running, the organization announced.  Participating bars and restaurants will be open as planned.

“After careful deliberation, the decision was made to cancel the Alton St. Patrick’s Day Festival. Participating bars and restaurants will be open for regular business hours and may offer St. Pat’s specials,” the bureau said in a statement.
