Horner & Shifrin Inc., an engineering firm serving the bi-state area, has announced two new hires, Chad Schrand, P.E., S.E. as a structural building practice leader and April Giesmann, P.E. as a civil/site practice leader.
Schrand (left) will lead the growing structural building engineering team. He has experience with code compliance, building analysis and forensic structural engineering capabilities that are needed on complex building issues.
Schrand holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has more than 13 years of experience in the area of structural engineering, focused on building distress investigations, code compliance, seismic analysis and design.
Schrand is a registered professional engineer in Missouri, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Indiana and Florida. He is a licensed structural engineer in Illinois. Additionally, he is a trained Missouri Structural Assessment and Visual Evaluation (SAVE) Coalition.
Giesmann (right) has more than 20 years in civil engineering design and planning, working with private clients, municipalities, DOTs, and other governmental and utility agencies. She’s been involved in the design of storm sewers, detention facilities, sanitary sewers, commercial and industrial sites, ADA accessible routes, flood analysis, and creek restoration projects. She will also act as the office manager for the new location in O’Fallon, Mo.
Giesmann is a registered professional engineer in Missouri, Illinois, Arizona, Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi and Texas. She is also certified by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and a Certified Floodplain Manager.
