BELLEVILLE – HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital says the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities International recently accredited St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for a period of three years.
The latest accreditation is the ninth consecutive Three-Year Accreditation that the international accrediting body, CARF, has awarded to the hospital.
“St. Elizabeth’s Rehabilitation Department is privileged to receive this high-level accreditation,” said Tom Dibadj, PT, and director of Rehabilitative Services at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. “CARF accreditation is not mandatory for rehabilitation units to maintain. Instead, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital leadership chooses to achieve these rigorous, high-quality rehabilitation standards in order to provide the best care possible for our patients.”
St. Elizabeth’s says its Comprehensive Rehabilitation Unit is one of the few accredited rehab facilities in Southern Illinois and the only one available in St. Clair County. The 33-bed unit, founded in 1986 provides services to adults who have been affected by stroke, hip fracture, traumatic brain injury and many related causes.
