Route 4 to be closed in Mascoutah for rehabilitation of railroad crossing

The Illinois Department of Transportation says Illinois Route 4 between Airport Boulevard and Illinois Route 161 in Mascoutah will be closed starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, for three days to allow Norfolk Southern Railroad to rehabilitate its crossing.

IDOT also said that Illinois Route between Woburn Road and North Main Street in Smithboro, in Bond County, will be closed starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, and continuing for two days to allow BNSF Railway Company to rehabilitate its crossing.

A marked detour will be in place to safely guide motorists around all closures. The department asks that travelers be patient and use extra caution near and throughout the work area. For questions, contact Rebecca Tharp at (618) 346-3197.
