Hawthorne Animal Hospital is adding a grooming and wellness annex at 24 Kettle River Drive across the street from its main Glen Carbon facility.

The new facility will house a grooming salon, rehabilitation services, and also a large fully-fenced dog park. The new building will also be home to the office’s new Evolution Dog Wash system, a self-service, coin-operated bathtub that offers an easy, economical and fun way to wash your pet with multiple washing and drying options.

Jen Oates-Blair, marketing director said the annex is being constructed at what was the former Drda Electric offices.

“We hope to have construction completed by early December,” she said.

The general contractor on the project is Jeff Lantz, of Lantz Homes, the same general contractor who served on Hawthorne’s main building.

The new annex will also include a fully-fenced, secure “bark park” to help exercise canine companions.

“Just like our Park Perks Club at our Troy location, park membership is free to current Hawthorne clients. Non-Hawthorne clients can join the program for a nominal monthly fee. Park membership will include unlimited access to both parks,” Oates-Blair said in an email.

Hawthorne Animal Hospital has been serving the Metro East area for more than 57 years. Hawthorne currently has facilities located in Troy, Greenville, Vandalia and the main hospital in Glen Carbon.
