WASHINGTON, D.C.— U.S. Rep. Mike Bost, R-Murphysboro, today announced a grant for $3,587,052 has been issued to reconstruct a stretch of Front Street and related work in East St. Louis. The grant comes via the Economic Development Administration under the U.S. Department of Commerce.

“This is an example of how a public-private partnership can benefit the community by spurring economic development and revitalization,” said Bost. “This infrastructure project is critical for helping and promoting small businesses in this region.”

The funding will help rebuild and enhance Front Street, Missouri Avenue and B Street, in addition to adjacent streets that will also be resurfaced and widened in East St. Louis. The public-private partnership is made possible by the Casino Queen, Bunge-SCF, and Cargill each contributing $500,000 toward the project, which has a total cost of close to $8 million.
