ALTON – The office of State Sen. Bill Haine, D-Alton, will play host to a Senior Fraud Prevention Workshop in conjunction with the Attorney General’s office and Senior Services Plus in Alton.

The event will teach seniors how to protect themselves and others from scam artists and fraudulent businesses, how to avoid identity theft, how to check their credit report and how to file a consumer fraud complaint.

“There are many scams out there that target senior citizens,” Haine said. “This event gives seniors the chance to learn from experts how to avoid these types of scams and protect themselves from things such as identity fraud.”

The event is 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Senior Services Plus, 2603 N. Rodgers Ave., Alton.
